While we cannot celebrate OAM as usual this year, we still want to encourage individuals and communities to reflect on the countless contributions that older Americans make to our lives and the nation. The Administration for Community Living’s (ACL) theme for this year’s is “Make Your Mark”. The theme represents the difference that “everyone” can make in the lives of older Americans.
In support of ACL’s annual OAM celebration, we too would like to thank all older Americans and especially our SCSEP participants who make a difference in helping to strengthen their communities across the nation. This year we celebrate OAM with a keen spirit of inclusion, appreciation and oneness. We are all in this together!!!
ACL's OAM page has some great ideas on how to stay connected while we are social distancing and on how to celebrate virtually through platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Sharing stories on Social Media is a great way to highlight the OAM celebration. Get social media graphics to help bring visibility to your OAM posts and tweets. In addition, other resources such as digital marketing materials are available: logos, posters, masthead artwork, and templates for a community proclamation or sample articles. Stories build community and connects us even when we can’t be physically together. Visit the Activity Ideas page for ideas on how to inspire your community members to share their stories while distancing. See a short list of ideas from ACL's OAM page on how to socialize, learn, explore, unwind, and connect during this time of increased isolation with this resources sheet, and share with your friends, family, and community.
